Summer Reading 2025
Get ready to Color Our World this summer at the Guntersville Public Library! Our Youth and Adult Summer Reading programs kick off soon, packed with creativity, discovery, and of course—great books.
Kids: Ages 0-11

June 4 at 10am:
Reptile Show
Snakes and lizards and a tortoise, oh my! Summer Reading begins with Land to Sea Exotics, who plan to bring a caiman, a sulcata tortoise, a ball python, a California kingsnake, a bearded dragon, a rhino iguana, AND an Asian water monitor.

June 11 at 10am:
Mr. B's Magic Show
Incredibly fun, interactive, and entertaining, this magical performance by award-winning magician Brandon Herring is sure to delight!

June 18 at 10am:
A Colorful Story
Have you ever wanted to be part of a story? Our storyteller and artist, Kristin, will transform volunteers using the magic of face paint into characters live as she weaves her tale of fantasy and adventure! Watch the story unfold before your eyes, and, if you're lucky, become a part of it yourself! Face-painting will be available for all after the performance.

June 25 at 10am:
Tomfoolery's Juggling Extravaganza
It’s TomFoolery's high-energy circus show! Tom will wow you with juggling skills, balancing feats, unicycle artistry, danger, audience participation, comedy hi-jinks, and, yes, some good old-fashioned Tomfoolery.

July 2 at 10am:
​Light & Sound: Luz y Sonido
Dance to the beat with "Light & Sound: Luz y Sonido", an interactive musical experience exploring colors, light, language, animal movements, and sound with Miss Calliope!

July 9 at 10am:
Hands-on Theatre
Step into worlds of different characters through creative play and storytelling in a class lead by Red Mountain Theatre for ages 4 and up. Through interactive theatre games and creative exploration, students will learn how their emotions and bodies communicate to themselves and others, all while having fun!

July 16 at 10am:
Lights, Camera, Science!
Places everyone! The McWane Center invites you on a backstage tour of art through the ages. Start a fire in the Stone Age, produce a plethora of pigment, and flip your world upside down . . .literally! Join us at the library for a show you won't forget.
Teens
Raffle Tickets for Prizes
Register for Summer Reading and pick up your registration bag! Included in your bag you will find special index cards. Write a review for a book (at least three sentences long) and turn it in at the front desk for a raffle ticket.
If it is a book from the Guntersville Library you have recently checked out, earn an extra raffle ticket when you submit the review when you return the book! Our favorite reviews may be posted online and added to our review display. Use the raffle tickets you earn to enter for a chance to win the prize (or prizes!) of your choice.

June 10 at 6:00pm
Make a Bracelet
Kumihimo is a Japanese technique for creating intricate, beautiful braids. First we will learn how to DIY a Kumihimo disk for weaving the cord, then we will learning an easy pattern for a bracelet (or anklet!) This technique is popular for jewelry-making and more.
June 21 from 10-12
Drop-in Tie Dye
This drop-in event is a perfect opportunity to transform boring white clothes into something new and colorful! Participants may bring 1-3 pieces to tie dye each. Please ensure any items you bring to dye are 100% plant fabrics like cotton, linen, or rayon. Bandanas will be available to tie dye if no clothes are brought in. While supplies last.
July 11 at 6:00pm
Art Detectives: Recover the Art!
HELP WANTED
Assistance requested in the recovery of missing artwork. Leads indicate art has been stashed at the Guntersville Public Library for pickup. Reward available upon return of stolen goods. All inquires should be directed to the library.
July 19 from 3pm-6pm
Indoor Mini Golf
